What's Happening
In January 2025, the council decided to move our monthly meeting from the motherhouse of the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart in Frankfort to Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Orland Park. We also changed the meeting date from the second Sunday of the month to the third Sunday of month.
In February 2025, seven inquirers were welcomed into initial formation. In ongoing formation, we began our study of "Laudato Si." We also are focusing on Third Order Saints, our discussion on this topic started by examining the life of Saint Thomas More.
At our March gathering we discussed chapter two of Pope Francis' Laudato Si. This is a very poetic chapter. It reminds us that we are not adrift in a hopeless chaos that happened by chance. "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you (Jer 1:5.)" Mankind was created for a purpose--each of us individually was created for a purpose. "All it takes is one good person to restore hope! (p.51) Our stewardship of the planet is our own protection against self-destruction (p. 56.) It is in this chapter, our Holy Father reminds us about St. Francis' Canticle to Creation. This canticle reminds us that "each creature is singing the hymn of its existence back in praise to the Creator. It is a chapter filled with a plethora of wonderful images--I think I'll read it again!
On Saturday, March 29, the Mother Cabrini Region will host a regional formation event.
